A student of economics at the University of San Andres, Mercedes Nogues is passionate about providing educational opportunities to underserved communities. In 2017 she won an emerging leader award from the Partners of America for her work in researching the issues surrounding the education system in Argentina. Through her project, Nogues intends to motivate high school students to continue their education, and in particular to encourage her fellow university students to assume leadership roles and participate in volunteer activities.
“Being able to participate in Eisenhower Fellowships, and interacting with leaders from all around the world will allow me to see other views of education, progress and how to build efficient projects. Besides this, access to mentors with more experience will allow me to reach more young people, build bigger projects and generate a real impact on the reality of my country.”
