A strong believer in mentorship, Sophie Nelson plans to establish a program with local businesses that will allow homeless or displaced people to gain employment. This project is grounded in the belief that, with the right support, more people can find paths out of poverty and deprivation. Her significant volunteer experience with homeless people has given her personal insight into making such a scheme accessible and she hopes to use her existing background in advocacy and campaigning to represent the voices of disadvantaged communities.
“I am passionate about representation and advocacy, and I aim to use my voice as a vehicle for change, speaking out for the underrepresented in society. I am confident that the Eisenhower Fellowship Network will give me the opportunity to be surrounded by motivated and inspiring individuals to challenge my own ideas, as well as enabling me to grow, both personally and professionally.”
